Advocating for Animals and Wildlife. Strengthening Municipal Systems. Supporting the Communities They Depend On.
WELCOME
Protecting Animals. Rehabilitating Municipal Systems. Strengthening Communities.

Advocacy for the Animals, Inc. is a Connecticut-based nonprofit rooted in Cheshire and built around a simple belief: animals in municipal care deserve better, and communities can help make that happen.
What began as local concern for animals in our municipal pound grew into a broader mission focused on humane care, accountability, transparency, and meaningful reform. Together, our community of residents, advocates, volunteers, and supporters came together to push for change — proving that grassroots involvement can create real impact for animals with no voice of their own.
Although the majority of our work remains rooted right here in Cheshire, our mission continues to grow as other towns, advocates, and communities reach out for support. Advocacy for the Animals, Inc. works to strengthen municipal animal care through humane initiatives, enrichment, public engagement, transparency, and community-driven support.
While we believe collaboration creates meaningful progress, we also recognize that systems sometimes fail. Our organization serves as both a collaborative partner and a community safeguard when accountability breaks down, animals are neglected, or public trust is lost.
Why This Work Matters

Many pound animals and injured wildlife are not euthanized because they are beyond help — they are euthanized because there is not enough space, funding, placement, rehabilitation support, or community resources available to sustain them.
Municipal systems often operate under enormous pressure with limited resources and little public visibility. Humane care, enrichment, transparency, accountability, and community involvement directly affect outcomes for vulnerable animals living within those systems.
Animals cannot advocate for themselves, request safer conditions, or ask for more time. Communities can.
That is why this work matters.

Community Makes Changes Possible

Meaningful change only happened because people became involved.
Concerned residents, advocates, volunteers, donors, and supporters came together to create awareness, push for accountability, support humane improvements, and advocate for animals who otherwise had no voice within municipal systems.
Grassroots advocacy, public engagement, donations, and community support continue to make this work possible. Whether someone contributes supplies, supports fundraising efforts, speaks up publicly, volunteers their time, or simply helps raise awareness — every action matters.
Without continued community involvement and support, this mission cannot continue to grow.
Be Part Of The Change

No single person changes a system alone. Communities do.
Every donation, volunteer effort, conversation, partnership, and act of advocacy directly impacts animals living within municipal care systems. Together, we can continue creating safer, healthier, and more compassionate environments for animals across Connecticut.
Join us in building meaningful change for animals with no voice of their own.
